You know it’s not going your way defensively when three different quarterbacks rack up career days on you by the midway point of the season.
Georgia has played four SEC games this season, and in three of those games, the opposing quarterback has thrown for a career high in passing yards.
The latest was Tennessee’s Jonathan Crompton, who had struggled mightily this season. But Crompton dissected the Bulldogs with bootlegs and rollouts and finished with 310 yards passing and four touchdowns. He completed 20 of 27 passes, and his only interception was a deflection off one of his receiver’s hands.
Unfortunately for the Bulldogs, who’ve given up an SEC-high 14 touchdown passes, it’s been a trend.
South Carolina’s Stephen Garcia threw for a career-high 313 yards in the second week of the season, and Arkansas’ Ryan Mallett came back the next week and lit the Bulldogs up for a career-high 408 yards.
Georgia is ranked 11th in the SEC in pass defense, allowing an average of 249 yards per game. The only team worse is Arkansas, which is allowing 253.4 yards per game through the air.
