HOOVER, Ala. – Heralded junior college newcomer Cordarrelle Patterson has only been on Tennessee’s campus for a few weeks, but he's already caused quite a stir.
At 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, Patterson has his teammates counting down the days to when they get to see Patterson and fellow receivers Da'Rick Rogers and Justin Hunter all on the same field in a real game.
“He’s insane. He’s a mix between Da'Rick and Justin. I feel sorry for our defense in 7-on-7 (drills),” Tennessee quarterback Tyler Bray said.
Junior offensive tackle Ja'Wuan James hurried to get back on campus earlier this month because he wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
“I couldn’t wait to come back in July because I heard a lot of hype,” James said. “He moves well and has crazy body control. He’s going to be a good player.”
Bray said it’s also been obvious this summer that Hunter is back to 100 percent. Hunter went down with an ACL tear in the third game last season.
“You saw when Justin went down last year that they could double-team Da’Rick,” Bray said. “When we have those three guys out there together, I don’t know what (defenses) are going to do.”
