The greatness of Urban Meyer at Florida can be defined a lot of different ways.
He’s won two BCS national championships, two SEC championships and has a 51-9 record since coming to Gainesville in 2005. His 29-8 SEC record is the best in the league over the last five years.
And since the beginning of the 2006 season, he’s won 42 games, which is tied for the most nationally over that span with Boise State’s Chris Petersen.
But Saturday’s game with Georgia in Jacksonville serves as a reminder of one of Meyer’s most remarkable feats as Florida’s coach and the kind of feat that makes him a rock star with the Gator Nation.
He has absolutely owned his rivals.
That’s right, Meyer is 13-1 against the collection of Georgia, Florida State, Miami and Tennessee.
His only loss was to the Bulldogs in 2007.
He’s 5-0 against Tennessee, 4-0 against Florida State, 3-1 against Georgia and 1-0 against Miami.
Winning championships is what everybody strives for, but nothing keeps the alumni happier than beating the people that count.
Bragging rights are everything in college football.
