Georgia coach Mark Richt confirmed Wednesday that senior defensive end Abry Jones will not play Saturday against Florida.
Richt declined to specify why Jones wouldn’t play.
“He won’t play this week. That’s all I can confirm,” Richt said.
Richt’s high school coach told The Macon Telegraph that Jones underwent surgery on his ankle Tuesday, leaving Jones’ availability for the remainder of the regular season in question.
Jones has started every game the past two seasons for the Bulldogs. He suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Kentucky game last week and was already slowed by a sprained ankle going into that game.
