When Alabama needed a battering ram Saturday night, Eddie Lacy came calling.

The junior running back was a man on a mission to run over or past everyone in his sight during Alabama's 32-28 SEC championship victory over Georgia. Someone really must have told Lacy that he had been playing soft, because he went right at Georgia's defense with a real purpose.

He finished the night with 20 carries for 181 yards and two touchdowns. He was a little nicked up throughout the game, but really did the most of his damage through the first three quarters, where he rushed for 176 and averaged 10.4 a carry. When Lacy was carrying the ball for the majority of the Tide's possessions, Alabama's offense was at its best.

On the three Alabama scoring drives in which he recorded at least one carry, Lacy ran for 41, 27 and 60 yards on those drives. On the first drive, he recorded a 41-yard touchdown run that put the Tide on the board in the second quarter. He ran for 60 yards on five carries, including his 1-yard touchdown run, during the third-quarter drive that gave Alabama a 25-21 lead.

Lacy received help from his stout offensive line and his partner in crime -- freshman T.J. Yeldon -- but Lacy helped restore that smashmouth attitude that the Tide lacked early in Saturday's game. He smashed a few mouths of his own in the process.
