Special teams not so special for Gamecocks, Cats

Whoever loses the Kentucky-South Carolina game is going to have special teams to blame.
South Carolina place-kicker Ryan Succop has missed three of his four field goal attempts, although his 42-yarder in the fourth quarter tied the game at 17-17.
One of the Gamecocks' two touchdowns came on a blocked field goal attempt that was returned return for a score by Captain Munnerlyn in the second quarter.
The Wildcats have struggled with their place-kicking all season, and Ryan Tydlacka is handling the field goal duties Saturday instead of regular kicker Lones Seiber. Tydlacka has missed two of his three field goal attempts.
But strangely enough, the only field goal he made was from 51 yards to put Kentucky ahead 17-14 just before halftime.
Stephen Garcia is in at quarterback for the Gamecocks after Chris Smelley was ineffective for much of the first three quarters. Let's face it. The Head Ball Coach doesn't have an abundance of patience when it comes to his quarterbacks, but this latest change may be the spark South Carolina needs to win its second straight road game in the SEC.
