South Carolina's offensive line depth took a hit this week.
Steve Spurrier announced on Thursday that junior offensive tackle Cody Gibson will miss the rest of spring after tearing the meniscus in his knee. Gibson will have to undergo surgery to repair his knee, but should be back by the summer.
The Gamecocks were already without junior tackle Mike Matulis, who will miss all of spring while he recovers from shoulder surgery.
Gibson has made six starts during his career and played in nine games last year (two starts). Before his injury, he was pushing both Brandon Shell (right tackle) and Corey Robinson (left tackle) for reps this spring.
The Gamecocks still have redshirt freshman Mason Zandi to work with at tackle, but are pretty thin at the tackle spot right now. The good news for the Gamecocks is that they signed four players who played tackle in high school, including four-star prospect Alan Knott (Tyrone, Ga./Sandy Creek).
