Who’s the best fourth-quarter team in the SEC?

According to the numbers, it’s Alabama, but Florida isn’t too far behind.

Any coincidence those two teams will meet in the SEC championship game in two weeks and occupy the top two spots in the BCS standings?

Probably not.

Here’s the fourth-quarter breakdown for all 12 SEC teams with the second-half breakdown in parentheses:

1. Alabama: 89-24, plus-65 (153-56 in second half)

2. Florida: 71-20, plus-51 (138-39 in second half)

3. Ole Miss: 76-26, plus-50 (147-85 in the second half)

4. Tennessee: 76-37, plus-39 (131-107 in the second half)

5. Kentucky: 70-34, plus-36 (121-94 in the second half)

6. Arkansas: 58-46, plus-12 (170-151 in the second half)

7. LSU: 63-55, plus-8 (123-74 in second half)

8. Georgia: 60-57, plus-3 (119-134 in the second half)

9. Mississippi State: 65-69, minus-4 (123-113 in the second half)
