SEC officiating draws more debate

Well, there was another excessive celebration penalty in the SEC that makes you scratch your head.

Ole Miss had an interception return called back in the first quarter by an illegal block in the back, and the officials also called unsportsmanlike conduct when Cassius Vaughn dived into the end zone.

The touchdown would have been called back anyway because of the block in the back. But how you can call unsportsmanlike conduct on Vaughn when it looked like he was just trying to ensure that he got into the end zone with an LSU player close by is beyond me.

College football has to take a long look at the whole concept of excessive celebration. It's being called far too often and in situations where it's not even obvious.
