Following LSU running back Jeremy Hill's recent arrest for his role in a bar fight, the sophomore received tougher probation guidelines after meeting with a judge in Baton Rouge Tuesday.

Hill, who was already on probation when he was arrested for misdemeanor simple battery early on April 27, must stay out of bars and has a 9 p.m.-to-6 a.m curfew. Hill also has to receive a substance-abuse evaluation and seek any recommended treatment, East Baton Rouge Parish District Attorney Hillar Moore said.

Cell phone video shows Hill punching another man in the side of the head during the altercation, though Hill's attorney, Marci Blaize, insists that Hill was provoked and heckled about his past legal trouble before the fight ensued. The video also shows Hill exchanging "high fives" with the second suspect, 20-year-old Robert Bayardo, who has no connection to LSU's football team.

Hill pleaded guilty to carnal knowledge of a juvenile in early 2011 and received a six-month suspended sentence along with two years' probation. Hill enrolled at LSU last year and led the Tigers with 755 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.

"Right now we're trying to maintain the status quo and abide by the conditions of his probation, including the new conditions set forth today," Blaize said.

LSU coach Les Miles has suspended Hill indefinitely and has already said that he won't comment any further on Hill's situation until the legal process plays out more.

It's absolutely imperative that Hill adhere to his new, more restrictive probation conditions. Obviously, he has to for legal reasons, but if he wants a chance at playing this fall for the Tigers, he'll have to stay on the straight and narrow from here on out -- and that's before any of the legal stuff gets handled.

Hill has a chance to be a real star for the Tigers after a breakout freshman campaign, but his LSU career is currently in jeopardy.
