South Carolina will open the 2015 season in Charlotte, N.C., against North Carolina, according to a report in The Charlotte Observer.

The game will be played at Bank of America Stadium, home to the NFL's Carolina Panthers. The Gamecocks also opened the 2011 season in Charlotte, but against East Carolina.

South Carolina and North Carolina will open the 2013 season against each other, and that game will be played in Columbia at Williams-Brice Stadium. The last time the two border rivals faced off was 2007 with South Carolina beating North Carolina 21-15 in Chapel Hill, N.C.

The two teams have played just 11 times since South Carolina left the ACC in 1971.
