TUSCALOOSA, Ala. -- Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody was injured in the opening minutes of the second half Saturday and had to be helped from the field.
The 360-pound Cody lay on the ground for a while and was tended to by members of the Alabama training staff. After being helped up, he was unable to put any pressure on his right leg.
While on the sideline, Alabama officials appeared to be working on Cody's knee. He was later put on a cart and taken to the locker room. A hush fell over Bryant-Denny Stadium after he first went down. But later, chants of "Cody, Cody" rang out.
The Crimson Tide aren't blessed with an abundance of depth on the defensive line. That's the one area where they really needed to stay healthy. Sophomore Josh Chapman, who's been rotating with Cody a lot this season, was the first one off the bench to replace Cody after he was hurt Saturday.
