Alabama nose tackle Terrence Cody is on track to return in time for the LSU game on Nov. 8 after spraining his right MCL against Ole Miss on Oct. 18.
"He's making good progress and is running and jogging this week," Alabama coach Nick Saban said Wednesday. "He's out for this week for sure and we hope to get him back maybe next week."
The fact that the 365-pound Cody was out jogging around the practice field was a big improvement from last week when he was struggling on the stationary bike. He's also been doing some running in the pool this week, and coaches and trainers are impressed with how he's attacked his rehabilitation.
One of the concerns was that Cody might gain weight while he wasn't playing. He reported to Alabama weighing more than 400 pounds, but he's pushed himself hard in his rehab.
He still has to be cleared by the doctors, and if there's any risk, he won't play against the Tigers on Nov. 8. The Crimson Tide staff has been very pleased with the play of redshirt freshman nose tackle Josh Chapman this season. Cody and Chapman were rotating before Cody was injured, keeping both players fresh.
