As big a joke as it would be for Auburn to run Tommy Tuberville out of town after this season, the truth is that he's making himself an easier target every time his Tigers take the field.

Auburn's 17-7 loss to Ole Miss on Saturday was the Tigers' fourth straight loss, and it's becoming painfully apparent to everybody on the Plains that this season was over a long time ago.

It's not just that the Tigers (4-5, 2-4 SEC) are losing, either. It's the way they're losing.

Quarterback Kodi Burns threw three interceptions, and the Tigers were guilty of nine penalties.

You could make an argument that Auburn has only gotten worse ever since Tuberville fired offensive coordinator Tony Franklin after the Vanderbilt loss. Since Franklin's ouster, the Tigers have lost to Arkansas, West Virginia and now Ole Miss. Their point total has gone down each game.

Tuberville's entire body of work should be considered when deciding his fate at season's end. But all of the good things in that body of work (the SEC title in 2004, all his wins over top 10 teams, the six straight wins over Alabama) sort of get blurred if he's sitting there with a 5-7 record.
