Bobby Petrino said earlier this week that his Arkansas football team was improving despite having nothing to show for it the last two weeks.
The Razorbacks had chances to beat Ole Miss and Kentucky, but couldn't get it done.
They got it done Saturday against No. 18 Tulsa, a sure sign that this team has bought into what Petrino's selling and has continued to get better.
Arkansas' 30-23 win over Tulsa was preserved when the Golden Hurricane failed on fourth down late in the game from the Hogs' 7-yard line.
The fact that Petrino has been able to keep this team focused and confident is impressive on a couple of different fronts. The Tulsa game was the seventh straight week that Arkansas had played without a bye.
Remember, the Hogs had to weather that brutal stretch where they were outscored 139-31 by Alabama, Texas and Florida.
Here's the other thing: The Hogs are playing 16 true freshmen.
Another solid recruiting class (and the Hogs are already adding Michigan transfer Ryan Mallett at quarterback), and Arkansas is going to be a team to reckon with next season in the Western Division.
