LSU running back signee Leonard Fournette was the No. 1 overall prospect in the country this year, according to ESPN.
The fans in our SportsNation poll also believe he will be the top impact true freshman in the SEC next season.
With more than 6,200 votes cast, Fournette narrowly beat out Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett. Fournette received 34 percent of the vote and Garrett 32 percent. Garrett was ranked by ESPN as the No. 4 overall prospect in the country.
Obviously, there's always the chance that the top impact true freshman in 2014 won't be one of these five. Alabama's class is absolutely loaded, and somebody else to watch next season is Cameron Robinson. He could end up being the Crimson Tide's starting left tackle. Florida cornerback Jalen Tabor is another one who could be a starter from Day One.
So much can change between now and then, but it's always fun to project.
For the record, Ole Miss receiver Laquon Treadwell was named by the coaches as the SEC Freshman of the Year in 2013. Treadwell was ranked as the No. 19 overall prospect in the 2013 class by ESPN and the No. 1 receiver nationally.
