For nearly two decades, Tennessee's Phillip Fulmer was the ultimate survivor in a league where coaches are probably better suited to rent than they are to buy.

The translation: Coaches don't last very long in the SEC.

With Fulmer being forced out effective at the end of this season, that leaves Auburn's Tommy Tuberville as the SEC's longest tenured coach. Tuberville, who's also on shaky ground, is in his 10th season at Auburn.

Fulmer saw coaches come and go at a bristling pace from the time he took over full time at Tennessee in 1993. During his tenure, there were 30 head coaching changes among the 11 other schools in the SEC. The number of different head coaches in the league on Fulmer's watch totaled 36 during his 16 full seasons.
