As much as our heart continues to break for the family of slain Vanderbilt signee Rajaan Bennett, it was touching to see Atlanta Hawks star Josh Smith stepping up to the plate to help the family.

Smith has pledged to play for six months of living expenses for the Bennett family. Smith and Bennett both attended McEachern High School. They met at the school last summer while working out.

Bennett was shot and killed last month by his mother's former boyfriend as part of a murder-suicide.
