Georgia's depth at the outside linebacker position in Todd Grantham's new 3-4 defense took a hit over the weekend with the dismissal of sophomore Montez Robinson.
The Bulldogs were counting on Robinson being in the rotation at outside linebacker. He was a defensive end a year ago and earned Freshman All-SEC honors.
Georgia coach Mark Richt announced Sunday night that Robinson was no longer a part of the team. Robinson was in the Clarke County jail on a misdemeanor charge of simple domestic battery.
It's his third brush with the law in the past six months, and Richt said in a release that Robinson "had not been able to conform to some conditions and stipulations that were placed on him as a result of previous off-field issues."
Robinson had already been suspended for the first two games of the 2010 season as a result of his previous arrests, and he also missed the bowl game last season.
The Bulldogs are down to just two scholarship outside linebackers for the rest of the spring -- Justin Houston and Cornelius Washington.
Georgia officials said Robinson's dismissal had nothing to do with a police report filed last week in Athens where a couple alleged they were threatened and struck in a taxi cab by members of the Georgia football team. That incident is being investigated by police to see if there was any involvement by Georgia players.
