Eric Berry will have a running partner next season at safety.
Tennessee landed Darren Myles Jr. on Wednesday in what was a big recruiting coup for first-year Vols coach Lane Kiffin and his staff. Myles is rated as the No. 5 safety prospect in the country by Scouts Inc. and is from Atlanta.
Kiffin has made no secret of the fact that he wants to hit the Atlanta area hard. The 6-foot-1, 175-pound Myles was recruited by everybody, including Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU and Michigan. For Kiffin and his staff to go into Carver High School and get him after just arriving at Tennessee a few months ago speaks volumes.
The other thing the Vols had going for them was Monte Kiffin and his Cover 2 defense. Myles really wanted to play in that defense. It doesn't hurt that he will be mentoring under Berry, either.
