Another raise for Alabama's Kirby Smart
By ESPN.com staff
When his alma mater, Georgia, came after him last year, Kirby Smart got a raise that more than doubled his salary to stay at Alabama.
One of Smart's closest friends, Will Muschamp, also came after him last month after getting the Florida head job.
But Smart will stay at Alabama for at least one more season as defensive coordinator after getting another raise and a three-year extension that takes his salary to $850,000 per year.
Smart is now one of the highest paid assistants in college football. His salary last year was $750,000.
This latest raise also increases the likelihood that the only job Smart will leave Alabama for is a head-coaching job.
As for the Alabama defensive line job, which came open after Bo Davis left for Texas, former Clemson assistant Chris Rumph has accepted that position.
