With the ageless Jack Cristil retiring as Mississippi State's radio play-by-play voice, his former sidekick, Jim Ellis, will take over the lead microphone.

Ellis has been a part of the football broadcasts for 32 seasons. He's hosted the postgame locker room interviews and scoreboard radio shows in addition to serving as color analyst.

Former Mississippi State quarterback Matt Wyatt will join Ellis as color analyst for football games. Ellis, a 1969 graduate of Mississippi State, will continue as the play-by-play voice for the Mississippi State baseball team and will also add basketball to his duties.

"I'm honored and humbled to assume the chair that Jack has occupied for so many years," Ellis said. "It's been a great privilege to be a part of the Mississippi State broadcast, and I look forward to continuing and building upon the legacy that Jack has created."
