Fans like us: Jason Aldean on Georgia
By Edward Aschoff
When it comes to fans, nobody beats the SEC. Well, international soccer fans and Canadian hockey fans can get a little out of control, but the SEC does it just right.
It doesn't matter how much fans can hate other teams, there is some mutual respect given to passionate fan bases. Without them, the league just doesn't have that same aura about it.
We need the wild tailgates, the trash talk and the body paint. Pets covered in team colors are a must and there is nothing wrong with your child's first words being "Roll Tide" -- unless you're an Auburn fan.
Colleague Kenny Mayne recently sat down with country music star Jason Aldean to talk with him about his love for Georgia Bulldogs football. The Macon, Ga., native grew up a huge Georgia fan with the plastic Bulldogs helmet and everything. The video was taken in Aldean's Bulldog haven on his farm in Nashville and you can see tons of Georgia-related memorabilia covering the walls.
He even has a bulldog named Athens, whose great grandfather was UGA V. Now that is pretty cool.
That's the neat thing about being a fan of a team with a reasonable mascot -- you can actually own one! Try being a Gators fan or an LSU fan. And don't even think about bringing home an elephant if you live in Tuscaloosa.
