Dan Mullen hasn't lost a game at Mississippi State, hasn't had to punt yet and hasn't gone for it on fourth down and failed.
So needless to say, he's all that right now in Starkville.
He coaches his first game at Mississippi State on Saturday when Jackson State comes to Davis Wade Stadium, and the early returns are that the fans are excited about this team.
The Mississippi State student body purchased all 11,000 student tickets for the 2009 season, the university announced on Wednesday. It's the first time the student allotment has been exhausted prior to the first game.
All told, the Bulldogs had sold more than 40,000 season tickets by the end of last week. The old record for season-ticket sales was 38,440, set in 2001 when Mississippi State was coming off four straight winning seasons under Jackie Sherrill.
