Hogs look like a top 10 team
By Chris Low
We knew the Arkansas Razorbacks had speedy playmakers all over the field. And, yes, the Missouri State Bears were way in over their heads.
But the Hogs served noticed in their 51-7 season-opening victory over Missouri State that they can score just about any way you want them to.
I felt like coming into the season that senior receiver Joe Adams was the best player in the SEC after the catch.
Maybe he's the most explosive player, period, when he gets the ball in his hands. He returned a pair of punts for touchdowns covering 78 and 61 yards.
Even though the Hogs were up 30-0 in this game before you could blink, they didn't do anything to dispel the theory that this will be Bobby Petrino's best defense at Arkansas. Missouri State was held to 18 yards of total offense in the first half.
I felt like the Hogs were one of the best three teams in the SEC coming into the season, and now that I've seen them (even though it was against an inferior opponent), I feel just as strongly that they're a legitimate top-10 team nationally.
There's no debating who the quarterback is on this team. It's Tyler Wilson, but it looks like Petrino will use Brandon Mitchell in different situations this season -- which puts even more pressure on the defense with his ability to make plays both passing and running.
