Tennessee fans: Introduce us to Knoxville

I'm taking over for the vacationing Edward Aschoff as we finish up the final two stops on our "Home Turf" series.

This was the ATL Kid's idea, and I must admit that it's been a good one. Let's just hope he's learned a thing or two about picking games next season.

Today, we head to Rocky Top, which has been my home for the last 15 years. It's a great place to raise a family, and they take their football pretty seriously in these parts, too.

The whole Neyland Stadium experience on Saturdays in the fall should be on every fan's bucket list. Just be sure you wear your sunglasses because there's a lot of orange.

I know this town very well, having also graduated from Tennessee in 1987. Back in the day, I also knew the watering holes pretty well, but not as much anymore. Trust me, though, there's plenty to do and plenty to see before and after watching the Vols tee it up on the banks of the Tennessee River.

Show those who need a little help around town by sending your ideas to our mailbag.

It's always a treat to catch a ride to the game with the Vol Navy and also make sure you grab a sandwich at Gus' Good Times Deli and check out all the autographed photos. I just wish the Roman Room were still around on the Strip. I can't count the number of Knicks-Celtics games I watched in that place with my Menlo Park, Calif., transplant buddy Craig Wentz and George providing his always superb service. That's back when the surest two points in basketball was Bernard King on the low block.

Enough reminiscing. I expect Vols' fans to be gracious and informative hosts.
