My preseason ESPN power rankings

By Edward Aschoff

Fellow SEC blogger Chris Low went all transparent on everyone and showed off his preseason power rankings, so I only thought it was appropriate I release mine to the public as well.

Like Chris mentioned in his past post, we did our rankings (half asleep I might add) prior to Tyrann Mathieu's dismissal at LSU. While he says he probably would have moved USC up to the No. 1 spot ahead of LSU, I wouldn't have changed a thing. I've said it plenty of times that I think LSU is the best team in the country on paper and still has enough talent to make another title run in 2012.

There are some changes I'd make if I could get my ballot back, though. I'd take Notre Dame off and put Auburn on, and I'd put South Carolina a little higher. I'd also switch Arkansas and Florida State. If only I had a time machine. I'm sure I'll have plenty of opportunities to construct the perfect set of power rankings going forward.

Here's my ballot:

1. LSU
2. USC
3. Alabama
4. Oklahoma
5. Oregon
6. Georgia
7. Michigan State
8. South Carolina
9. Florida State
10. Arkansas
11. Michigan
12. West Virginia
13. Kansas State
14. Wisconsin
15. Stanford
16. TCU
17. Virginia Tech
18. Nebraska
19. Oklahoma State
20. Texas
21. Boise State
22. Ohio State
23. Clemson
24. Notre Dame
25. Florida
