Shelley, Sturgis are Lou Groza semifinalists

Alabama kicker Jeremy Shelley and Florida's Caleb Sturgis were named two of 20 semifinalists for the 2012 Lou Groza Award. The award is given annually to the nation's best place-kicker:
Shelley: He leads Alabama in scoring with 70 points on the season. He's hit all nine of his field goal attempts and all 43 of his extra-point tries. Five of his kicks have come between 30 and 39 yards, while four have come between 20 and 29 yards. He has a long of 38 yards this season.
Sturgis: Sturgis leads the Gators in scoring with 68 points. He's 15-for-18 on his field goal tries and has hit 23 of his 24 extra-point attempts. He's hit 8 of 9 kicks between 20 and 29 yards and 4 of 6 kicks between 30 and 49 yards. He's 3-for-3 from 50-plus yards, with a long of 51.
