Bama LB Trey DePriest has broken foot
By Edward Aschoff
Alabama starting inside linebacker Trey DePriest is expected to miss the rest of the spring after the rising junior broke his foot during Saturday's scrimmage, coach Nick Saban said Wednesday.
DePriest was a big piece of Alabama's defense last year, as he started started 13 games of the 14 games he played in and finished second on the team with 59 tackles, with four for loss. He also had two pass breakups and two quarterback hurries.
Losing DePriest certainly hurts, but it will give rising sophomore Reggie Ragland, who was the No. 2-rated inside linebacker in the 2012 recruiting class, and redshirt freshman Ryan Anderson, more reps as Alabama closes out spring practice.
Anderson has moved to inside linebacker, while Ragland should see more time with Nico Johnson heading to the NFL.
