Auburn responds to SEC on game tape
By Greg Ostendorf
Gus Malzahn and Bret Bielema don’t seem to like each other much. The initial feud began during SEC media days when the two first-year head coaches took shots at each other and their styles of offense. It picked back up this week when the Arkansas coach reported a discrepancy with the film he received from Auburn.
On Tuesday, Malzahn said Auburn has issued its response to the SEC.
“The SEC office is aware of all the details on both sides,” he said. “We always operate with the utmost integrity in everything we do, and if there’s ever anything I don’t know about that’s brought to my attention, we’ll deal with it in a prompt manner.”
The complaint from Bielema was regarding one of Auburn’s extra point plays against Florida Atlantic. The Tigers lined up in a formation where they sometimes go for two, and Bielema said the TV copy he watched didn’t match the film copy that was sent to him.
The two teams will meet Saturday in Fayetteville, Ark., at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN2.
