College football's small sample size stars

This season, a number of players made the jump from productive understudy to all-conference status. A top candidate on this list is Florida State running back Devonta Freeman, who went from second on the Seminoles' rushing yardage list in 2012 to a spot on the first-team All-ACC squad in 2013. Texas Tech tight end Jace Amaro and Texas defensive lineman Cedric Reed saw similar productivity increases that moved them into All-American and All-Big 12 status, respectively.

So which players who showed glimpses of star potential in limited action in 2013 are primed for much bigger things in 2014? KC Joyner has 10 of the strongest candidates. From the SEC, he lists Alabama RB Kenyan Drake, Arkansas TE Hunter Henry and LSU RB Terrence Magee.
