Let’s start with the Western Division since that’s essentially become a two-team race.

Auburn (8-0, 5-0 SEC) wins the division if the Tigers can win out -- at Ole Miss this Saturday, home against Georgia on Nov. 13 and at Alabama on Nov. 26.

The same goes for Alabama (7-1, 4-1) if it can win out -- at LSU on Nov. 6, home against Mississippi State on Nov. 13 and home against Auburn on Nov. 26.

LSU (7-1, 4-1) will need some help to win the division. In particular, Auburn will have to lose two games. LSU still has to play Alabama at home on Nov. 6, Ole Miss at home on Nov. 20 and Arkansas in Little Rock on Nov. 27.

The loser of the Alabama-LSU game can pretty well count itself out of the race.

However, if LSU beats Alabama, and Auburn then loses two of its last three SEC games, then LSU would win the West.

The East race is anybody’s guess at this point.

Florida (4-3, 2-3) and South Carolina (5-2, 3-2) are the only two teams that control their own destiny. If either team wins out, it would win the East title and go to Atlanta.

The Gators and Gamecocks play on Nov. 13 in Gainesville.

The Florida-Georgia game Saturday in Jacksonville could also have a major bearing on the race.

A Georgia win would give South Carolina a nice cushion. In that scenario, the Gamecocks could lose one of their three remaining games (home against Tennessee this Saturday, home against Arkansas on Nov. 6 and at Florida on Nov. 13) and still win the division.

South Carolina owns the head-to-head tiebreaker over Georgia.

For the Bulldogs (4-4, 3-3) to win the East, they would need to win out against Florida this weekend and then at Auburn on Nov. 13 and have the Gamecocks lose two more games.

So, the Gamecocks appear to be in the best shape. But if Florida beats Georgia this weekend, the East race will almost certainly be determined on Nov. 13 when the Gamecocks and Steve Spurrier visit the Swamp.
