Golf will survive. With or without Tiger. No one athlete is bigger than the game. No matter the athlete, no matter the sport. Basketball survived without Magic Johnson, without Larry Bird, and without Michael Jordan. Plus, golf has been through this before. When Palmer retired, the game moved on. When Nicklaus retired, the game moved on. Maybe not as many people will watch without Tiger, (truth be told I’ll probably be one of them) but eventually someone will take his place. It’s ridiculous to suggest that Tiger Woods’ absence will cause irreparable damage to the PGA tour. Almost as ridiculous as the way we revere our professional athletes, and are surprised and disappointed when they are just like us: human.
