According to ESPN's John Clayton, former Chiefs halfback Larry Johnson officially signed his one-year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals Tuesday morning, according to a source.
Terms of the deal weren't available. Johnson flew to Cincinnati Monday to meet with the Bengals. Head coach Marvin Lewis told him he would be a backup. Cedric Benson's status remains uncertain because of a hip injury, but the team is hopeful he will be able to play this week.
Because NFL veteran contracts are guaranteed at the start of the regular season, Johnson is still going to make a little more than $4 million. Money wasn't an issue for Johnson with the Bengals. It was the opportunity that convinced him to sign.
