Lane Kiffin did not last 2 full seasons as Raiders head coach - he was fired on September 30, 2008, four games into his second season. Kiffin made his mark at USC, helping the growth of wide receivers like Mike Williams and Steve Smith, currently with the Giants. Kiffin's other college coaching experience came in the mid to late 1990s at Colorado State and Fresno State. Tennessee was his first head coaching position.

408 days after telling Tennessee fans that they would sing Rocky Top all night after being Florida in his introductory press conference, Kiffin leaves Tennessee. He was 7-6 in his only season there after succeeding Phil Fulmer, who held the job for 17 seasons. 39.8
Kiffin returns to the Trojans, where he last served as offensive coordinator for two seasons. In that span, USC put up 39.8 points per game - third in the FBS - BUT Kiffin did not call offensive plays for the team. Those duties went to Steve Sarkisian, now Washington's head coach.

According to published reports around the time he took the Tennessee job, Lane Kiffin will have to pay UT $800K for resigning from the head coach position. Kiffin earned $2M this past season from Tennessee.
