We started the day wondering if Dwight Freeney would even play, let alone play well, and asking how long it would take Peyton Manning to figure out the Saints defense. 9:17 AM ET - Nets' Harris Leaves Team

After being told he had no chance to become head coach of the New Jersey Nets, assistant coach Del Harris chose to resign his position and leave the team. Harris has NBA head coaching experience but Nets president Rod Thorn apparently was looking in another direction.

12:00 PM ET - ATH: NBA Labor Issue, Maualuga Rehab, Eagles QB Deal?

The top news stories at the hour included the latest information on the NBA Labor situation from ESPN NBA Analyst Ric Bucher, Bengals LB Rey Maualuga entering rehab for alcohol after pleading guilty to drunk driving earlier this week, and whether the Eagles are entertaining offers for any of their 3 QBs courtesy of ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter.

2:49 PM ET - Paul Pierce Starts for Celtics in Loss to Magic

Celtics F Paul Pierce returned to the lineup Sunday, but the Celtics still couldn't beat the Magic. The Magic used a huge 3rd quarter to take a commanding lead and control of the game. Pierce only scored 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting while all 5 starters for Orlando reached double-digit points in the win. They leaped over the Celtics and into second place in the Eastern Conference.

3:53 PM ET - Goodell on NFL Collective Bargaining Negotiations

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said Sunday that even if the players give up of their share of the league's revenue, their salaries would still increase. Goodell explained the need to invest some money in order to earn more in the long run. The owners are looking for the players to help invest in the league so the future can be as bright as the present and recent past has been.

6:00 PM ET - ATH: Saints Offseason, Florida St. Sanctions, Sapp Released

The top news stories at this hour included the list of Saints free agents this season. Twenty-nine players on the Saints current roster will be either restricted or unrestricted free agents. Also, Florida State vacated 12 football wins and other school achievements in relation to a grade scandal from 2006-07 and Warren Sapp is released from prison on bond following his arrest for battery in his Miami hotel room.

8:04 PM ET - Colts Lead Saints 10-6 At the Half

The Colts looked strong in the first half and held the Saints without a TD. A huge goal line stand late in the 2nd quarter seemed to give the Colts momentum but a quick three-and-out followed by a Saints FG drive all but eliminated it.

10:00 PM ET - New Orleans Saints are Super Bowl Champions

New Orleans played solid defense, smart offense, and an overall outstanding game as they beat the Indianapolis 31-17. Peyton Manning's key INT in the 4th quarter was returned for a TD by Tracy Porter and seemingly put the game out reach.

11:00 PM ET - Jubilation in New Orleans! The Saints Win!
