MAUER'S AGENT ARRIVES AT CAMP
While Twins catcher Joe Mauer is signing autographs down in Florida, he hasn't yet signed a new contract. Ron Shapiro is his agent, and a team source confirmed the Minneapolis Star-Tribune that he's now in Fort Myers as well, and is expected to hold face-to-face discussions with the Twins about the future of the their MVP. A framework for an extension is reportedly close, but progress has been slow of late.
More of what's happening At This Hour, including Tiger's caddy talking about Tiger and the latest negotiating before the NFL's free agency window opens at midnight tonight, after the jump.
MINUTES AND WEEKS AND YEARS
Tiger Woods hasn't been doing much public speaking at the moment, but he has been speaking with his bag man, and his bag man has been speaking with New Zealand's version of '60 Minutes'. Steve Williams says Tiger won't return to golf until his golf returns to form. On the other hand, Jack Nicklaus says that he doesn't think Tiger would miss the Masters "in 100 years" and that he would probably play somewhere before he would play Augusta. So why not Arnie's tournament? Tiger's never missed it since turning pro, and it starts three weeks from today, two weeks before the Masters.
COLTS STILL NEGOTIATING WITH BRACKETT
The NFL free agency countdown is on for Colts starting middle linebacker Gary Brackett, among others. And Indianapolis is working hard to try and complete a long-term deal with Brackett before midnight, at which time their defensive captain can begin negotiating with other teams.
