THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES: Thursday the Panthers released QB Jake Delhomme after seven seasons. He holds the Panthers team records for touchdown passes (120) and passing yards (19,258). Originally undrafted out of Louisiana-Lafayette in 1997, Delhomme is 108 passing yards shy of 20,000 for his career. By releasing Delhomme, the team will eat one of the worst contracts in recent history as the QB is still owed almost 13 million guaranteed dollars as a part of the five-year, $42.5 million extension he signed just one year ago. Delhomme led Carolina to its only Super Bowl appearance in 2003 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2005, but underwent Tommy John surgery in 2007 and missed the final five games of 2009 with a broken finger.
