Neil Everett: The John R. Wooden Award

Neil Everett

College football has its Heisman, college basketball has its Wooden. The John R. Wooden Award is given to the men's college basketball player of the year. It doesn't have the hype the Heisman has because it doesn't have Heisman's history, and it's not a big television event.

Still, the Wooden's a big deal to the ten young men nominated, and this year it's a big deal to me. I was at a Gonzaga-Pepperdine game earlier this season when a man approached me about presenting the award this season. How cool is that! I'll find out how cool on April 9th.

By the way, I'm predicting Evan Turner wins it.
