Ward Season Over
Texas guard Varez Ward will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured quadricep tendon in his right leg. Team trainer Eric Fry says Ward will have surgery next week. Ward started the first three games for No. 3 Texas before injuring himself in warmups before Tuesday night's game over Pittsburgh. He averaged 6.7 points and three rebounds and led the team with seven steals.

JJ's Chief
Jimmie Johnson's crew chief, Chad Knaus, denies a report that he's agreed to lead Johnson through 2015, which is the length of Johnson's new contract extension with Hendrick Motorsports. Knaus says he first needs a new contract. He is working under an extension signed in 2006 that runs through next season and says he's only just started conversations on a new deal and nothing has been agreed upon.

Harris Still Hurting
The Denver Broncos will be without right tackle Ryan Harris again for their game against the New York Giants on Thanksgiving. Harris dislocated two toes in a game at Baltimore on Nov. 1 and missed the second half of that game and the next three, all of them Denver losses. Harris returned to practice this week, but coach Josh McDaniels declared him out Wednesday and said second-year pro Tyler Polumbus would start again in his place.
