Michael Vick Throws 3 TDs, Runs For 1, as Eagles Pick Apart Jaguars
Michael Vick made Eagles coach Andy Reid look like a genius Sunday. Vick completed 17 of 31 passes for 291 yards and 3 TDs and also ran for another score, leading the Eagles to a 28-3 victory over the Jaguars. Reid announced Vick as the team's starter over Kevin Kolb last week.
Braylon Edwards Scores TD as Jets Fend Off Dolphins
The Jets topped the undefeated Dolphins on Sunday night. Jets QB Mark Sanchez found Dustin Keller for 2 TDs and Braylon Edwards for another during the 31-23 victory. Chad Henne was 26 of 44 for 363 yards and 2 TDs in defeat.
Yankees 4, Red Sox 3 (10 innings)
A walk-off walk gave the Yankees a 4-3 win against the Red Sox. Juan Miranda drew a bases-loaded walk from Hideki Okajima in the 10th to avoid the Boston sweep. The Yankees cut the magic number to one for their 15th playoff berth in 16 years and are within a half-game of AL East-leading Tampa Bay.
Matt Bryant's 46-yard FG Gives Falcons OT Win Over Saints
The Atlanta Falcons handed the New Orleans Saints their first loss of the season. Saints kicker Garrett Hartley missed a game-winning field goal and the Falcons made him pay. Atlanta kicker Matt Bryant booted a 46-yard field goal with 1:55 left in the extra period to lift the Atlanta Falcons to a 27-24 victory Sunday.
Nevada Ranked for First Time Since 1948
Alabama, Ohio State and Boise State remain as the nation's top three teams. This according to The Associated Press Top 25 poll, where No. 4 Oregon and No. 5 TCU changed spots and Nebraska stayed at No. 6. The Florida Gators moved two spots to No. 7 and will face top-ranked Alabama on Saturday. The Nevada Wolfpack cracked the Top 25 for the first time since 1948.
Phillies Don't Clinch Division But Earn Playoff Spot With Padres Loss
The Phillies didn't clinch the NL East on Sunday, but did lock up a playoff spot. Philadelphia lost to the Mets 7-3, but a Reds 12-2 win against the Padres guaranteed the Phillies at least a wild-card spot.
Roy Williams Grabs 2 TDs as Cowboys Earn First Win of Season
Roy Williams had a breakout game for the victorious Cowboys on Sunday. Williams caught five passes for 117 yards and 2 TDs from Tony Romo in the 27-13 victory against Houston. Texans QB Matt Schaub threw for 241 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs in the loss.
NFL Employees 'Aware of Union Actions'
League sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that the NFL and NFLPA leaders are scheduled to meet Tuesday in Washington DC for the first time in nearly a month. ESPN NFL Insider Chris Mortensen reports that one item on the agenda will be the first ever proposal to have teams contribute to Player Pensions and addressing the NFLPA's Legacy Fund Proposal.
Jim Furyk Has $10M Bunker Save For Win
Jim Furyk captured the Tour Championship on Sunday. His one-shot victory over Luke Donald was his third this season, a career-high. Furyk wins the sterling silver FedEx Cup trophy and the $10 million that comes with it.
Johnson Wins At Dover, Gains Ground In Chase
Jimmie Johnson dominated again at Dover International Speedway, winning the second race of the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. It was Johnson's sixth victory of the season and his third win in four races on the 1-mile concrete track.
