Ole Miss head coach Houston Nutt says he "appreciates the interest Kansas showed" but will remain in Mississippi. Nutt, 17-8 in two seasons at Ole Miss, has guided the Rebels to back-to-back Cotton Bowls. Kansas is reportedly in talks with Buffalo Head Coach Turner Gill about the vacant post. Mark Mangino resigned last week amid controversy about his behavior toward players.

Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Safety Troy Polamalu says he's not sure if he will be able to play again this season. Polamalu injured the Posterior Cruciate Ligament in his left knee and has missed the last three games. The Steelers play on Thursday night and Polamalu has already been ruled out. Pittsburgh has lost all three games Polamalu has missed with this injury.

The Seattle Mariners have signed OF/3B Chone Figgins to a four-year $36 million contract. Figgins hit .298 with five home runs and 54 RBI for the Los Angeles Angels last season. Figgins was the Angels' leadoff hitter and stole 42 bases to go along with his 114 runs scored. Along with OF Ichiro Suzuki, the Mariners now have two of the fastest players in the league.
