Sources: Adrian Gonzalez to Red Sox
The San Diego Padres and Boston Red Sox have agreed to a deal, in principle, to send slugger Adrian Gonzalez to Boston, sources tell ESPN. The deal is pending a physical - which could happen later today. Boston would include its top-pitching prospect, Casey Kelly, in the trade, along with first baseman Anthony Rizzo, outfielder Reymond Fuentes and a player to be named.
Brad Childress: Vikings Much Improved
Former Vikings coach Brad Childress believes he left the team in better standing than when he began as coach in 2006. Childress, who was let go by the Vikings last month, told the St. Paul Pioneer Press on Friday that his firing wasn't a complete surprise. "I don't know if it's shocking," said Childress. "All you have to do is look around the league to know this happens. I didn't do everything perfectly, but I felt I coached my way. I left that job in a lot better shape than we were [in 2006]."
Sources: NBA Considers Buying Hornets
To buy or not to buy, that is the question. The NBA is contemplating whether or not it should buy the New Orleans Hornets from longtime owner George Shinn, according to sources with knowledge of the league's thinking. It's believed that the NBA's intent -- if the purchase takes place -- would be to try to secure a buyer willing and able to keep the Hornets in New Orleans since Shinn's anticipated sale to minority partner Gary Chouest has apparently collapsed.
