The St. Louis Rams made their one-year deal with quarterback Shaun Hill official Monday after agreeing to terms late last week.

Hill's contract comes in around the going rate for a backup quarterback, though the Rams didn't have to overextend themselves for a multiple years. Hill will be expected to come in and back up starter Sam Bradford and potentially serve as a mentor for a likely drafted rookie to come in May.

Unlike the more complicated deal of someone such as offensive lineman Rodger Saffold, Hill's deal is about as cut and dry as a contract can get. Let's take a look:

Cash value: $1.75 million
Cap value: $1.75 million
Guaranteed money:$500,000
Base salary: $1.25 million
