Iowa State raced out to a 14-3 halftime lead, and held off a late Longhorns rally to win 28-21 for their first-ever victory over Texas. The Cyclones defense forced four turnovers, including three interceptions, sparking the team to its first win over a ranked opponent since 2005 against Colorado and snapping a streak of 18 straight losses against AP-ranked teams.

Texas has now lost consecutive home games for the first time since 1997 and falls to 4-3 on the season. With just four wins and only five regular season games remaining, the Longhorns would need to win the Big 12 championship game or bowl game to extend its 10-win season streak to 10 straight. Their current streak of nine 10-win seasons is the longest active and the second-longest all-time in FBS behind Florida State’s 14-season streak from 1987-2000.
