McCoy's big 4th quarter powers Eagles

The Giants-Eagles game pitted two teams atop the NFC East at 6-3 with many wondering what Michael Vick do for an encore.

LeSean McCoy

McCoyAfter a quiet first three quarters in which he had just 10 yards on six carries, it was LeSean McCoy that stole the show in the fourth quarter. The Eagles trailed 17-16 after blowing a 16-3 lead when on fourth down with a yard to go, McCoy broke off a 50-yard touchdown run. McCoy would total 101 yards on four carries in the 4th for his second career 100-yard rushing game.

Vick, meanwhile, was held without a touchdown pass a week after passing for 333 yards and accounting for six touchdowns against the Redskins. Vick did complete 24 of 38 passes for 258 yards and rushed 11 times for 34 yards and a score on Sunday.

So how did the Giants slow Vick down? By sending extra pressure and making Vick get rid of the ball early.

Michael Vick vs Giants Sunday

The Giants sent a DB rusher (mostly SS Deon Grant) on 20 pass plays, forcing two scrambles and recording two sacks. On Michael Vick's 16 pass attempts when facing a rusher from the secondary, he completed six passes for 66 yards. When the Giants didn't send someone from the secondary, Vick completed 18 of 22 passes.

As for containing Vick as a runner, the Giants did quite well. Vick left the pocket on eight of his 47 dropbacks against New York. He rolled to his left five times, scrambling once for five yards and completing two of four passes for 18 yards and one first down. On the three occasions Vick rolled to the right (his non-throwing side), he attempted no passes and scrambled three times for 13 yards, none of which resulted in a first down.

Manning

Eli Manning struggled to take care of the ball as he was intercepted three times and also had a costly fumble on a scramble in which he lost control of the ball despite being untouched. This is the third time that Eli Manning has thrown three interceptions in a game this season. Manning's 16 interceptions this season are second-most in the NFL behind only Brett Favre's 17.

FROM THE ELIAS SPORTS BUREAU: Eli's older brother Peyton also threw three interceptions Sunday. Since Eli turned pro in 2004, Sunday was the first day on which each Manning brother committed at least three turnovers.

Entering Sunday, the Giants were fifth in the NFL in yards per attempt (7.4) when using three or more wide receivers. Against the Eagles on Sunday, Eli Manning completed just nine of 21 attempts for 63 yards with similar personnel on the field, throwing one touchdown and two interceptions.
