The Miami (FL) football program has long been a feeder to the NFL, with NFL players past and present having worn a Hurricanes uniform prior to plying their trade in the big league.

And recently, alums of “The U” have maintained a remarkable streak in the NFL.

A Hurricanes alum has scored a touchdown in every regular season week in the NFL starting with Week 15 in 2002 -- a span of 139 game weeks.

It hasn’t always been a given. The streak nearly came to an end many times.

Twice it took until the fourth quarter of Monday Night Football to extend the streak, and once a 107-yard fourth-quarter interception return touchdown by Ed Reed helped keep the streak alive.

And if not for a Jeremy Shockey nullified touchdown in Week 14 of 2002 (he was flagged for offensive pass interference, and even if he wasn’t, there was offensive holding on the play), the streak would be at 152 game weeks.
