It was a good week for the ACC. The Miami Hurricanes continue to rise in the AP poll, racking up valuable points for their conference. NC State also jumped into the Top 25 of the AP poll. One more solid week for the ACC and they are in prime position to jump the WAC, which lost all of Fresno State’s AP points after its loss to Ole Miss.

The Big East is in freefall. The Mountain West has overtaken them in the computer rankings. The West Virginia Mountaineers are the only team receiving any AP points, and they dropped out of the top 25 following their loss to the LSU Tigers. The conference fell to 5-13 against all other FBS schools and 1-10 against other AQ schools. They are much closer to being overtaken by Conference USA than they are to catching any of the top seven conferences.

The Big 12 took a hit as well with the Texas Longhorns’ surprise home loss to the UCLA Bruins. They fell to fifth place in the AP poll, behind the Mountain West. They were close to overtaking the SEC in the computer rankings entering the week, but now are close to being overtaken for second by the Pac-10.
