MVC and MWC making moves in top 10
By Evan Kaplan
The top six conferences in ESPN Stats and Info’s weekly college basketball power rankings remained the same this week and continue to separate themselves from the rest of the pack.

Five of the top six conferences in this week’s power rankings are Big Six conferences. The Mountain West rounds out the top six, and continues to get closer to the ACC, which was highlighted in last week’s rankings.
21 of the 25 teams in Monday’s ESPN/USA Today Top 25 poll are from these six conferences. The Big Ten and Big East each have five teams in the Top 25 poll, the most of any conference.
The Big 12 has just three teams in the ESPN/USA Today Top 25 poll, but all three are ranked in the top seven in the nation. Despite having two less teams in the poll than the Big Ten or Big East, the placement of the Big 12 teams has given the conference the highest human bonus for the second consecutive week.
The Missouri Valley Conference has continued to improve over the last few weeks, and moved up to the number 7 spot in this week’s rankings. The conference has just one team ranked in either poll, Creighton, but has continued to receive respect from the computer rankings.
According to Kenpom.com, the MVC has four teams in the top 75 in the nation and two in the top 50 (Creighton and Wichita State). Creighton moved up to 18 and Wichita State received 13 votes in this week’s ESPN/USA Today poll.
The WAC was the biggest mover this week, jumping up two spots from 14 to 12, while the MAC fell from 13 to 15, the biggest drop of any conference.
