Yankees in control of ALDS

Yankees 5, Twins 2 (Yankees lead ALDS, 2-0)

The Twins have now lost 11 straight postseason games and 10 straight postseason home games. The home losing streak matches the all-time record of the Philadelphia Phillies, who lost 10 in a row between 1915 and 1978. The 11 straight losses ties the Phillies for the second-longest postseason losing streak. The record is held by the Boston Red Sox, who lost 13 in a row from 1986-95.

From the Elias Sports Bureau: Minnesota is the second team in history to lose four straight postseason games, with the winning run scoring in the seventh inning or later of each game (1986/1988 Red Sox are the other team).

• Twins have now scored first in each of their last nine postseason games against the Yankees (and are 1-8 in those games).

• Yankees have outscored the Twins 13-2 after the sixth inning over the last two postseasons.

• New York has won seven straight road postseason games against the Twins, tied for the longest postseason road win streak for a team against an opponent (Yankees vs. Braves).

Andy Pettitte
• Combining the regular season and postseason, he has won his last nine decisions against the Twins.
Pettitte
• His 19 postseason wins are the most all time, and three of those are against the Twins.

• 4-0 with a 1.51 ERA in his last six Game 2 appearances.

• 5-0 in his last nine postseason starts -- only two pitchers have longer streaks: Roger Clemens was unbeaten in 12 straight starts, and Orel Hershiser in 10 straight.

• Now has 25 quality postseason starts, moving past Tom Glavine for the most in postseason history.

Mariano Rivera
• 41st career postseason save, the 16th different postseason series in which Rivera has had at least two saves. (He's had three saves in a postseason series twice, last time was the 2000 ALDS).

• Combining his regular season and postseason totals, he now has 600 career saves.
